We are a parrot rescue/sanctuary located in Lexington, GA,
just outside of Athens.
Our main purpose is to find great homes for parrots that need them, to work to rehabilitate parrots that have problems, to help educate the public about the care of parrots and the overwhelming number that are re-homed every day.
We also will be happy to work with you to keep your parrot in your home if there is a way. The best solution for any bird is to be with his/her family.
At Dee's Haven the health, well-being and happiness of the birds are our first concern. We are selective about our adoptions and will never knowingly place a bird into a breeding situation.
We are now selling T-Shirts to help support Dee's Haven. We have been asked by so many people for t-shirts and this is the best way we've found so far. These are the cutest t-shirts and can't wait to get ours!!
Click the link below and order your Dee's Haven t-shirt now. Help us continue to help them!

As much as we hate to do this, if you make an appointment
and are going to be more than 1/2 hour late, you will need
to call to confirm the appointment or reschedule. If you don't call
and show up 2-3 hours late, please don't expect us to be
We have some great parrots available for adoption.
Please check out our Adoptable Birds page for pictures
This video was made by a very special young lady that adopted a Sun Conure from us. Thank you so much!
If you want to adopt, you don't necessarily have to have a great deal of experience but you DO have to do your homework--research, know what is involved, and know that you are getting into. Please, make sure you are willing and able to provide a loving and permanent home before you adopt. Be certain you can live with the noise and the mess and possible destruction of your home. Be sure you are willing to make the commitment to having a parrot in your home and as a part of your family. You will truly never find a better companion.
Parrot Property Laws
1. If I like it, it's mine.
2. If it's in my mouth, it's mine.
3. If I can take it from you, it's mine.
4. If I had it a little while ago, it's mine.
5. If it's mine, it must never appear to be yours in any way.
6. If I'm chewing something up, all the pieces are mine.
7. If it just looks like mine, it's mine.
8. If I saw it first, it's mine.
9. If you are relaxing with something and you put it down, or if you are playing with
something and you put it down, it automatically becomes mine.
10. If it's broken, it's yours.
Native American Poem
I give you this one thought to keep
I am with you still - I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sunshine on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not think of me as gone-
I am with you still in each new dawn.
RIP my darling little Casey. I know you are flying over that rainbow bridge, but you are missed beyond words.
Fly free beautiful Stella. You were a piece of my heart and will never be forgotten. You touched me so much in the time you were here with us. I felt my heart break as I held you and said goodbye, crying that you were leaving us. Remember Mama loves you beyond words.
November 9, 2010 I lost my little BoBo. Our bond was so strong and my love for him beyond words. My "mini Grey" always had kisses and snuggles for me and I can't thank him enough for allowing me to love him. The void is huge and my heart hurts. Fly free my darling BoBo. Always in my heart.
